Dish bought Boost Mobile to provide service to the 9.5 million customers that will be left without a service when T-Mobile shuts down its 3G CDMA network in 2022. T-Mobile's old, clunky internal tools made it impossible for MVNOs to sell SIMs online and service its subscribers. Boost needed to migrate its customers off of T-Mobile and rapidly expand and grow its subscriber base.
